Vet+Weld Pro
What is Vetweld Pro and how does it work?
Vetweld is a veterinary-grade tissue adhesive based on n-butyl cyanoacrylate. It polymerizes rapidly upon contact with tissue, forming a strong, flexible bond to close minor wounds or surgical incisions safely and efficiently.
What procedures is Vetweld Pro
suitable for?
- Closing small lacerations and minor cuts
- Dewclaw removal, tail docking, and similar small surgical sites
- Use alongside sutures or staples in some cases (care should be taken not to interfere with staple removal)
Note: Vetweld is not intended for deep wounds under tension or internal use.
How should Vetweld Pro
be applied?
- Clean and dry the wound site before application.
- Apply Vetweld™ sparingly (a thin layer) between approximated wound edges—excess adhesive may crack or lift.
- Avoid touching the applicator tip to moist tissue.
- Hold wound edges together for 5–10 seconds until the adhesive sets.
- After use, wipe excess adhesive from the applicator tip to prevent clogging.
How quickly does Vetweld Pro
set?
Vetweld polymerizes within seconds upon contact with tissue, achieving initial strength almost immediately. Full bonding strength develops shortly thereafter.
Is Vetweld waterproof or moisture-resistant?
Yes Vetweld Pro forms a waterproof, protective barrier over the wound, helping prevent contamination and promote clean healing.
How long does Vetweld Pro stay on or how does it get removed?
The adhesive naturally sloughs off as healing occurs. If any residue remains after healing, it can be gently eased off or removed under veterinary supervision.
How should Vetweld be stored, and what is its shelf life?
- Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature.
- Shelf life is typically up to 12 months, depending on storage conditions.
- Once opened, use within about 2 months for best results.
- Do not use beyond the expiration date.
What are the safety and hazard considerations?
- Vetweld is a flammable liquid—keep away from heat or open flames.
- Avoid contact with eyes; flush with water and seek medical care if contact occurs.
- Bonds skin rapidly—if accidentally bonded, soak in warm water and gently separate.
- Wear gloves and eye protection when handling.
- Use only in well-ventilated areas.
Are there contraindications or precautions?
- Not for use in deep, puncture, or high-tension wounds.
- Avoid internal application or allowing adhesive to enter body cavities.
- Do not apply over sutures or staples where it could affect removal.
- Use caution in animals sensitive to cyanoacrylate adhesives.
